Interior Design Blogs You Need To Follow in 2024

With around 7.5 million blog posts being uploaded online every single day, there are quite literally infinite places to get interior design inspiration from.

2024 has seen a move to more moodier colour themes like navy blue and forest green, favouring matte walls and regal gold accessories over greige and the classic timeless earthy beige tones.

For those of you who LOVE prying into other people’s decorating styles (guilty, your honour!) we’ve combed the internet to discover the best interior design blogs that you should be following in 2024!

Interior Design Blogs You Need To Follow In 2024.

1. Mad About The House

Mad About The House is an interior design blog run by Kate Watson-Smyth, who has been writing about interior design for over 20 (yes, 20!) years. With bylines in leading publications such as the Independent and the Financial Times, she’s considered an expert in all things interiors, and we’re inclined to agree.

While her blog touches upon a wide variety of topics, her main aim is to “show you how to decorate your own homes with interesting and unusual items.” This allows you to inject your own personality into your house, creating a space in which you feel truly at home.

For those interested, she’s also published numerous books on interior design!

2. CocoCozy

Coco Cozy was founded by furnishing designer and interior expert Colette Shelton, who was recently listed as one of Forbes’s top 30 influencers. Her blog posts are written in order to inspire readers by providing them with practical tips and advice when it comes to decorating and furnishing their homes.

One thing that really distinguishes this blog from the rest is the friendly, approachable and often comical tone of voice that is evident in the writing. While it often features high-end, luxurious designs, the language remains accessible, making for a nice, easy read 100% of the time. Given that we often don’t have hours of time to dedicate to reading blog posts, this is a real benefit in our eyes!

3. The Spruce

Drawing in a whopping 26 million monthly visitors, the Spruce is one of the most popular blogs among those who are interested in all things interior design. Contributors to the Spruce post under numerous different categories, such as “Feng Shui,” “Small Spaces” and “Room Design.” This makes it much easier to find what you are looking for on a site where new content is uploaded on a daily basis.

In addition to home design tips and tricks, they also have a section on their website dedicated to cleaning and maintenance. This makes it easier to keep your home in top condition!

4. Ideal Home

Ideal Home is another big name within the interior design industry. While the majority of their content is now published online (on their blog), they originally began as an interior design magazine in 1920. This means that, as a company, they have over 100 years of experience when it comes to providing their readers with the best tips and advice on how to transform their homes!

Again, the content published on their blog is incredibly varied. From guides on what furniture to buy (and where to buy it) to insights into “ideal homes” across the world, there’s a wealth of material to explore. A small downside of this blog is that it lacks a personal touch when compared to blogs run by an individual, given that they have a huge team of writers at their disposal.

5. Vintage Revivals

If you’re looking for a blog that is a little more personalised, you’ll love Vintage Revivals. Published by stay-at-home Mom Mandi, this blog is designed to help first-time decorators hit the ground running, no matter how scared they may be of making a mistake. Again, it touches upon a wide range of topics, most notably DIY projects that are both simple and affordable.

One of the reasons we’re big fans of this blog is that reading her content makes you feel like you’re friends with Mani. It’s personal, fun, and easy to read, and the tips and advice shared are useful! It’s a generally great resource for those who may otherwise lack the confidence to pick up the paintbrush (or toolbox) and get working!

6. Young House Love

This blog is a little different to others on the list, given that its put together by a couple. Sherry and John published their first post sixteen years ago, and since then, have made a real name for themselves in the interior design world. Their content is based on providing the readers with practical tips and advice that they can use to “make a house a home.”

Their expertise also means that they have renovated over 7 homes and 3,000 projects, which means they really know what they are talking about when sharing advice with their readers. Again, this content is enjoyable as it has a lovely, personal touch!

7. Design Milk

If you’ve fallen in love with modern design trends and aesthetics, you’ll love Design Milk. Since 2006, this blog has focused on keeping readers up-to-date with the latest trends in interior design, though they also publish posts on architecture, art and technology.

While it may not be as focused on interior design as the other blogs on this list, they provide their readers with plenty of inspiration when it comes to renovating or redecorating their homes. They’re also great at shining the spotlight on the latest names in the industry, which means that you’ll often be introduced to them on Design Milk before you hear about them elsewhere.

8. Elle Decor

Elle Decor is an interior design magazine that is part of the Hearst Fashion and Beauty Network and Elle Magazine. With a particular focus on elegant and luxurious design, their blogs are designed to highlight the latest trends in interior design. This, in turn, makes it easier for their readers to ensure their homes look as chic as possible!

The Elle Decor blog also contains plenty of product recommendations, which could make it easier to source new furniture or finishings for your home. Again, they tend to focus on high-end or particularly unique items, which is perfect for those who are searching for the perfect finishing touches for their home.

9. Azure Magazine

Azure Magazine is another interior design blog that also doubles as a magazine. This is an award-winning blog that focuses primarily on contemporary designs and styles, though it also runs numerous competitions. These competitions are often designed to reward and inspire the next generation of interior designers.

This blog also touches upon other topics outside of interiors, which means it may not be the best choice for those who are looking for more focused reading.

10. Treehugger

While the TreeHugger blog isn’t dedicated entirely to interior design, it has earned a spot on our list due to its incredibly high-quality posts on sustainability and interior design. Given that we’re all trying to be a little more eco-friendly in recent years, their blogs provide readers with practical advice that they can follow when it comes to designing and maintaining a green home.

As such, we predict that this blog will explode in popularity in years to come, especially when we are reminded of just how important it is to take action and protect the planet!

Still on the lookout for an interior design blog that you love? Don’t worry; below, you can find even more fantastic blogs to enjoy.

The Best Interior Design Blogs: By Category.

In order to make it a little easier to find an interior design blog that you’ll love, we’ve broken the blogs down into several distinct categories. This way, you can find a blog that meets your needs so that you’re excited each and every time they upload a new post!

The Best Interior Design Blog for the Budget-Friendly Decorator.

In an ideal world, we wouldn’t have to budget ourselves when redecorating our homes. However, sometimes, this is necessary. Fortunately, many bloggers have stepped up to create content that is built around budget-friendly interior design projects so that you do not have to break the bank in order to build the home of your dreams.

One of the most popular blogs within this category is Style by Emily Henderson. What began as a personal blog over ten years ago has now expanded quite considerably, featuring blogs from a talented team of interior design experts and enthusiasts. With a particular emphasis on affordability, the blogs touch upon a wide range of topics, from DIY tips to deep dives into the latest styles and trends.

The Best Interior Design Blog for Minimalist Aesthetics.

Minimalism is a design trend that will never go out of style. However, as it requires you to be incredibly specific in regard to your design choices and furnishings, it can be something that is difficult to get right. Fortunately, there is a wide range of interior design blogs that are dedicated entirely to minimalist aesthetics, such as April and May.

April and May is a blog run by two interior designers named Vivian and Aimee, who share a passion for all things interior design. Based in Scandinavia, their design advice is built upon traditional Scandinavian design, which often means simple, sophisticated interiors and neutral colour palettes. All of their blogs have been translated into English!

In recent years, they have also begun to focus on sustainability within interior design.

The Best Interior Design Blog for Contemporary Lovers.

Contemporary design allows you to explore the more recent, cutting-edge trends, which is sure to delight your clients or bring something new and interesting into your home. However, as trends can seemingly come and go in the blink of an eye, it can be difficult to keep up. The right blog can help you stay up to date in this regard by alerting you to the latest trends in contemporary design.

Right now, one of the best interior design blogs focusing on contemporary design and aesthetics is House of Hipsters. While the influence of the latest styles and trends can be found in each of their blog posts, you can find a wide variety of content on their site, which is broken down into different categories based on the space you are decorating (Bedroom, Living Room, etc.) Singing up to their mailing list will also give you free access to an interior design style guide, which is handy for those who are just getting started on a project and aren’t sure where to begin!

The Best Interior Design Blog for Art Deco Designs.

Art Deco designs rose to popularity in the 1920s and 30s, though they are still favoured by many interior designers to this date. Generally, interior design projects with these aesthetics focus on opulence, luxury and geometric shapes. As this is a particular niche (which some design lovers may find to be dated), there are fewer blogs that focus entirely on this aesthetic, though many will write the occasional post focused on introducing Art Deco design into the home.

During our research, however, we stumbled upon The Glam Pad. This is a fantastic blog which focuses on “classic interiors and old school glamour.” While the content featured on this blog is varied, they often post interviews with some of the world’s leading interior designers alongside reviews on the latest interior design guides and books.

The Best Interior Design Blog for Small Spaces

If you’re working within a smaller space, such as a flat or apartment, then this changes the scope of the work you will be able to carry out on an interior design project. As such, it’s useful to find blogs that are designed to help you capitalise upon every inch of space that you have available to you, making even the smallest of rooms feel bright, spacious and airy.

One of the best blogs in this regard is Apartment Therapy. In addition to providing you with a wide range of tips and tricks you can use to re-decorate smaller places, they also provide practical tips for renters. This way, you can make the property or flat feel like your own through personalisation without breaching the terms of your contract.
